LOS ANGELES, CA. (THECOUNT) — Los Angeles Zoo officials are in the process of evacuating some animals from the family fun spot as a fire burned dangerously close in Griffith Park on Friday.
A lemur enrichment was reportedly among the first lot of animals to be removed, park employees said.

Fire engines were unable to get to the area, authorities said, so crews were hiking into the park to set up battle lines and determine how to get water to the blaze. A Los Angeles County Fire Department helicopter was expected to respond. source
Zoo staffers were also hosing down the most vulnerable hillside areas, officials said.
An arboreal primate with a pointed snout and typically a long tail, lemurs are found only in the wild in Madagascar.
