WATERVILLE, ME. (THECOUNT) — Mark Johnston, of Richmond, has been identified as the body pulled from the Kennebec River, in Waterville, Maine, last Friday.
Johnston, 64, was reported missing Thursday night after he failed to return home after stating he planned to relocate his moored vessel to a slip on the Kennebec River.
The discovered of the body ended an extensive search launched after Johnston was reported missing the night before. He was heard saying he planned to move his boat from a mooring in the river to the Town Dock, according to Jessica Lowell, reporter at centralmaine.com. He never returned.
The Division of Marine Resources announced Thursday in a news release that the identity was confirmed by the state Medical Examiner’s Office. Johnston’s body was recovered shortly after 3 p.m., by the Maine State Police/Marine Patrol from the Kennebec River. source
