COLORADO SPRINGS, CO. (THECOUNT) — Colorado woman, Elizabeth Bennett, is facing charges of vehicular homicide and driving under the influence of a suspected drug, in the DUI death of a 40-year-old female pedestrian last Sunday.

With the help of social media and responding family members, Colorado Springs police identified homeless woman, Essence Grant, as the victim killed the violent crash Sunday which occurred at the intersection of S. Academy Blvd and Astrozon Blvd, in Colorado Springs, CO.

Bennett, 29, was taken into custody.

Thursday, CSPD said 40-year-old Essence Grant was the victim who was struck by a vehicle while crossing the street Sunday. Despite medical staff trying to keep her alive, she succumbed to her injuries.
