LAKE COUNTY, IL. (THECOUNT) — William Freeman, of Round Lake Park, IL, has been identified as the bicyclist struck and killed Tuesday in the Round Lake Beach area, according to Lake County authorities.
Freeman, 56, died after being struck by a 2006 Honda Pilot while riding across North Fairfield Road at North Hillside Drive, in Round Lake Beach, Tuesday, authorities said.
A 41-year-old Lake Villa driver remained at the scene and cooperated with officials.
The driver was not injured in the collision.
“Mr. Freeman’s family has been notified and our deepest condolences go out to them. This is truly an awful tragedy,” Lake County Coroner Howard Cooper said.source
The Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team and Round Lake Beach police continue to investigate the crash.
