OH UPDATE: No Charges In “Akron Fright Fest” Haunted House “Mock Rape” Says Sergeant

UNIONTOWN, OH. (THECOUNT) — UPDATE: Akron-area haunted house, Akron Fright Fest, that found itself surrounded in controversy earlier this fall, will not face any criminal charges.

Sergeant Eric East of the Springfield Township Police Department issued the following statement Wednesday morning:

After a thorough investigation, several interviews and discussions with prosecutors, it was determined that no charges would be filed in the cases. There is no doubt that the actors of the haunted house used poor judgment in their use of body and spoken language during Akron Fright Fest. Although their actions were inadvisable, there was no physical evidence to substantiate allegations of a crime being committed. source

(ORIGINAL STORY:) Akron, Ohio area “physical” haunted house, Akron Fright Fest, was shut down after some employees were accused of staging “mock rape” scenes.

The ‘hands-on’ haunted house, located near Lake Kimtam in Uniontown, Ohio, announcements on Facebook on Thursday that they would be closing their doors to the Akron Fright Fest, as well as the popular, “Kidtober Fest.”

“We have decided to close Akron Fright Fest and Kidtober Fest due to current circumstances and family matters,” said the park, which is also home to a swimming lake and beach. “We will see you in the spring. Thank you for all your support, it is highly appreciated.” source

Akron Fright Fest includes six haunted houses and and three require visitors to sign waivers with the understanding that actors can get “physical.”
