OAK RIDGE, TN. (THECOUNT) — Isaiah D. Ramirez has been identified as the suspect killed in a police-involved shooting in Oak Ridge, TN, Monday.
Ramirez, 36, refused to pull over and gave chase, according to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation. At the conclusion of the chase, Ramirez exited his vehicle and struck and officer who then fired on the suspect.
Ramirez was pronounced dead.
Investigators said an Oak Ridge Police Department officer tried to stop Ramirez who refused to pull over and gave chase. That chase reportedly ended at the Anderson County General Sessions Court parking lot along Emory Valley Road. source
According to the TBI, the officer got out of his car and was hit by Ramirez. An officer on scene then apparently fired a gun and hit Ramirez. He was taken to a nearby hospital and died.
The officer hit by the car is expected to recover.
