LYNCHBURG, VA. (THECOUNT) — Lynchburg woman, 69-year-old Robin Chenault, has been identified as the victim found shot dead in a residence Saturday night.
Police did not give an update or release the name of a man who was also found suffering from gunshot wounds in the home, saying only he is 65 years old.
On Friday around 9:30 p.m. police arrested Tony Kidd, 53, for assault and battery in Campbell County in the Evington community. Kidd was released on bond. It was after that time he reportedly shot several people at a residence, at least one fatally.
Lynchburg police said 53-year-old Tony Kidd, of Campbell County, was a suspect in those shootings as well as shooting and injuring a police officer. source
Saturday around 1 p.m. Lynchburg police got a call and found Kidd driving a white Ford Expedition and pointing a gun at someone. Officers went to the 2000 block of Hughes Avenue and attempted to stop the vehicle. Kidd refused to pull over and led them on a chase south into Campbell County.
Kidd later crashed in the area of Candlers Mountain Road and Sunnymeade Road. There was then a shootout with police.
Kidd and one officer were shot and a canine unit was injured.
