GRAYSON COUNTY, KY. (THECOUNT) — Phyllis Minton has been identified as the victim killed after her vehicle was struck by a train in Leitchfield, KY, Friday night.

Minton, 63, was named as the Grayson County teacher killed Friday when her car was struck by a train.

Local reports say, Minton was traveling in a vehicle when she approached a train crossing that had no warning lights or crossbars. When she crossed the tracks from a steep uphill incline she was struck by an oncoming train.

Minton was pronounced dead at the scene of blunt force trauma consistent with the collision.

Minton was a beloved math teacher at Grayson County High School. The school released a statement through Twitter, saying Minton’s passion for math and her students had a very real impact on many.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday.
