SAN DIEGO, CA. (THECOUNT) — Fred Saxon, a former San Diego radio and television personality, film reviewer, interviewer, lecturer, musician, producer and raconteur, to name a few, has passed away.
Perhaps best known for his long stint as an entertainment reporter at KUSI, Saxon passed away at the age of 76, say local reports.
Saxon was reportedly the very first entertainment reporter to appear on CNN.
From 1991-2000 Fred Saxon was seen daily on KUSI-TV in San Diego, first on the “KUSI News at Ten”, then on the “KUSI Morning News”, the top-rated local morning television program. As entertainment anchor he interviewed celebrities, reviewed movies, and reported on Hollywood and the local arts community. Over the years– he interviewed big names like Harrison Ford– Morgan Freeman and Joan Rivers. source
Along with being a well-respected movie critic– he was also an accomplished musician and music producer.
Saxon was once described as “one of the nicest, smartest, and funniest guys you’re ever likely to meet.” Just ask him, he’ll tell you.
Before Saxon began reviewing movies and interviewing film stars on television, he had a successful career as a performer and record producer.
