KNOXVILLE, TN. (THECOUNT) — “Kali,” Zoo Knoxville‘s legendary white tiger, has been euthanized. She was 21 years old.
Zoo Knoxville announced the sad news of the death of one of its iconic zoo animals, Kaliyani aka, “Kali” the white tiger, who had been struggling with failing health in recent weeks due to her advanced age.
Kali was 21 years old. Zoo Knoxville officials stated her quality of life was monitored closely and constantly by her zoo caretakers and the veterinary team from the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine. As her physical symptoms worsened and could no longer be comfortably managed with medication, Kali began refusing food. source
The decision was made to humanely euthanize her.
Zoo officials stated they appreciated keeping zoo staff in people’s thoughts today. Kali had been with the zoo for more than a decade.
