SOUTH BEND, IN. (THECOUNT) The driver who was shot dead by South Bend police has been identified as Kristopher Mingo Flores.
Flores, 19, was named as the man killed in an officer-involved shooting in South Bend, involving officers, Patrolman First Class Randy Goering and Patrolman First Class Brandon Stec.
It deadly shooting occurred just after 4 p.m. Monday in the Frank’s Place parking lot, which is in the 300 block of Marion Street.
Police said Flores pulled into the Frank’s Place parking lot as officers followed him. The officers said Flores raised a handgun over his car and pointed it at one of them.
Police then opened fire striking and killing Flores.
Homicide detectives said two South Bend officers in an unmarked police car saw another car driving erratically on Marion. That driver has been identified as Kristopher Mingo Flores, 19. source
Homicide detectives indicated that only one officer fired shots. The victim did not fire any shots.
Both officers are assigned to the St. Joseph County Drug Investigation Unit (DIU). However, this incident is not in relation to any DIU investigation.
