ARDMORE, OK. (THECOUNT) — A photo has gone viral depicting Oklahoma middle school students serving a “working detention” on school grounds while dressed in orange t-shirts resembling inmate uniforms.
The photo, which widely sparked controversy online, caused Oklahoma Ardmore Middle School to discontinue “effective immediately,” the practice that required students serving detention to don orange t-shirts.

The photo has been shared hundreds of times and made its way to Superintendent Kim Holland, who said he learned about the disciplinary action last week after receiving a call from a parent. source
The shirts, which were donated, have since been removed from the school.
Students who have to serve in-school detention will continue to serve it in a classroom, school officials said.
