NEW BERN, NC. (THECOUNT) — A Craven County Commissioner issued a dire warning on social media warning residents not to venture out because the county is completely landlocked by rising flood waters.
Steven Tyson, District 7 Commissioner, says the county is “landlocked” by rising waters on the roads.
“Craven County is now Landlocked. Hwy 70 and 43/17 and 17 South are closed due to floodwaters,” he wrote on Facebook. “We will keep you posted as more info comes in. We have dealt with this issue before. It will pass soon,” he continued. source
Flooding has been a problem since Thursday evening in the region after Tropical Storm Florence, which was then a hurricane, pounded the North Carolina Coast.
