BELLEVIEW, FL. (THECOUNT) — Melissa Kay Hicks, of Pensacola, has been identified as the victim killed while operating a bicycle in Belleview, Florida Friday night.
Hicks, 39, was struck and killed following a hit and run crash around 9:30 Friday night on Jaker Ln. & W Michigan Ave, Belleview, Florida, on State Road 296.
According to a press release from the Florida Highway Patrol, 39-year old bicyclist Melissa Kay Hicks of Pensacola was killed when an unknown vehicle driven by an unidentified person struck her as they were both traveling along Michigan Avenue. source
The unidentified driver reportedly fled the scene of the accident and is being sought by authorities for felony hit-and-run causing death.
Hicks was pronounced dead at the scene of blunt force trauma suffered in the collision.
Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
