OKLAHOMA CITY, OK. (THECOUNT) — Peter Mabry has been identified as the pedestrian struck and killed by a vehicle Wednesday near the Northwest Expressway.
Mabry, 66, was named as the INTEGRIS Baptist Medical Center hospital patient who was lying in the roadway when he was fatally run over by a car.
Mabry was pronounced dead of blunt force trauma consistent with the collision.
“The driver had no idea that he actually ran over the person or that the person was in the roadway until after the incident. As soon as he left the scene he called 9-1-1 and then came back immediately,” Officer Megan Morgan said. source
Oklahoma City Police say the driver is not at fault and did “nothing wrong.”
Integris confirms Mabry was one of their patients and released the following statement:
“We can confirm the person involved in yesterday’s auto-ped accident was one of our patients. Privacy laws prohibit us from releasing specific details, but we can say this person left our hospital against medical advice. We are saddened by the tragic turn of events and express our deepest sympathies.”
Officer Morgan confirms Mabry also walked with a cane and may have fallen into traffic.
“There are no signs of any type of foul play, any suspicious activity, it looks like it was just a tragic accident,” Morgan said.
