BOCA RATON, FL. (THECOUNT) — Joseph Lasorda, the brother of former Dodgers manager, and Baseball Hall of Fame member, Tommy Lasorda, was killed in a Boca Raton crash Thursday night, local reports say.
“Joe” Lasorda, 83, was killed after being involved in a vehicle accident with Boca Raton Police officer, Doug Immler, on N Military Trl and Potomac Rd Boca Raton, FL.
According to the crash report from the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s office, Joseph Lasorda, at the wheel of a 2018 Toyota Camry, turned left into the path of a Chevy Traverse that had the green light.
Lasorda was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead of blunt force trauma injuries consistent with the crash.
The driver of the Chevy Traverse, identified as 30-year-old Immler, received minor injuries. He’s a sergeant with the Boca Raton Police Department. He was on duty at the time in his unmarked police vehicle, according to Boca Police.
The crash remains under investigation.
