BEAVER COUNTY, UT. (THECOUNT) — Nicholas J Demas, of Sandy, Utah, has been identified as the man killed after he fell off the back of a Jeep while hunting in Beaver County late Monday night, according to Utah Highway Patrol.

“Nick” Demas, 28, was traveling in a silver Jeep Wrangler was traveling westbound on state route 153 near milepost 21 in Beaver County around 10:35 p.m. when the fatal accident occurred.

The two passengers were standing on a homemade rack on the back of the Jeep while bow hunting mule deer. While they were traveling, a single strap/handle that was attached to the roll cage of the Jeep broke, according to Utah Highway Patrol. Demas fell off the back of the vehicle. CPR was initiated on scene by first responders.

A Life Flight helicopter responded to the scene to transport Demas, but sadly, he was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Utah Highway Patrol.
