RILEY TOWNSHIP, OH. (THECOUNT) Chastidy Renae Babb, of Elmore, Ohio, has been identified as the motorcyclist killed following a collision with a vehicle on Saturday afternoon in Riley Township.
Babb, 44, was operating a 2011 Harley Davidson motorcycle on County Road 198 when the fatal crash occurred at approximately 4:21 p.m. Saturday.
Babb failed to negotiate a curve, ran off the east side of the road, and struck a traffic sign.
She then traveled back onto the roadway and into the middle of the left lane, when a 2006 Cadillac SRX, driven by John W. Walker, 88, of Fremont, struck her, according to OHP. Ms. Babb was ejected from the vehicle and her motorcycle was pushed back off the east side of the road. Mr. Walker came to final rest on the east shoulder north of the crash scene. source
Mr. Walker was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, OHP noted in a crash report.
Babb was not wearing a safety helmet at the time of the crash.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
