Wednesday La Masa CA Head-On Crash Victim ID’d As Hayder Qasim Kadhim al-Faisal

LA MESA, CA. (THECOUNT) — Hayder Qasim Kadhim al-Faisal has been identified as the victim in a La Mesa head-on crash Wednesday.

Authorities say, al-Faisal, 40, was fatally injured in a La Mesa head-on crash Tuesday that was possibly caused by distracted driving. “There is some evidence to suggest that distracted driving may have been a factor,” Lt. Brian Stoney said in a statement.

al-Faisal was traveling westbound on Riviera Road around 7:45 a.m. Tuesday when his 1998 Toyota Camry exited the roadway for an unknown reason and headed into oncoming traffic, according to La Mesa police.

He collided head-on with a 2000 Jeep Cherokee.

“When the officers arrived on scene they found both of the drivers trapped inside of the vehicles due to the extensive damage caused by the collision,” Lt. Brian Stoney said in a statement Tuesday. “(Firefighters) arrived and extricated both of the drivers, who were then transported to local area hospitals.” source

al-Faisal was transported to and area hospital where he was later pronounced dead of blunt force trauma injuries suffered in the crash.

The 33-year-old woman driving the Jeep sustained minor injuries.

Police did not believe speed or alcohol impairment were factors in the collision.

Anyone with information about the fatal crash may contact police at 911.
