IMMOKALEE, FL. (THECOUNT) — Sonia Matilde Velasquez, Ave Maria, has been identified as the woman killed in a car crash at Camp Keais Road and Pope John Paul II Boulevard in Immokalee Tuesday morning.
According to authorities, Velasquez, 54, was operating a vehicle traveling on east on Pope John Paul II Blvd when she attempted to make a left hand turn and failed to observe a posted stop sign.
Velasquez failed to stop at a stop sign while making a left turn and drove into the path of a dump truck which struck her car. source
Velasquez was pronounced dead at the scene of blunt force trauma injuries suffered in the crash.
No charges have been filed against the driver.
