JASPER COUNTY, MO. (THECOUNT) — Billy D. Stevens, of Webb City, has been identified as the victim found inside a burning car in rural Jasper County. The incident is being called a murder-suicide.
Stevens, 34, was the suspect in an earlier death investigation at an in-home residential care facility, where he shot and killed Monte L. Little Jr., 19, of Webb City.
A witness situated near the vehicle before the blaze stated he heard a gunshot inside the vehicle and then heard the engine revved loudly subsequently bursting in flames.
Jasper County Sheriff’s Office says the cause of death was determined to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. source
