ST. LOUIS, MO. (THECOUNT) — Dave Matthews, the St Louis pizza delivery driver who was shot while on the job July 4, has passed away from his injuries early Sunday morning, his family has confirmed.
The family of Matthews confirmed the sad news, saying on social media he died about 12:30a.m. Sunday morning after fighting for his life for nearly a week in an area hospital. According to reports, he was shot twice in the neck while delivering food from Imo’s Pizza to a St. Louis neighborhood.
According to St. Louis police, Dave Matthews was delivering a pizza just before midnight on the 4th or July near Gustine and Potomac in Tower Grove South where he was shot multiple times and was rushed to a hospital with serious injuries. source
Imo’s Pizza, located at, Morganford & Humphrey, confirmed that Matthews was driving for them at the time of the now fatal shooting.
Police have not indicated a motive, suspect or the current status in the case.
The incident remains under investigation.
