OSAGE COUNTY, KS. (THECOUNT) — Sharnicca D. Cannon, of Tucson, and her passenger, Anthony E. Krawczyk, of Mesa, AZ, have been identified as the victims in a double-deadly Kansas I-35 crash Saturday.
The Kansas Highway Patrol said the Arizonans, both 20, were killed in a stolen PT Cruiser following a police pursuit and resulting a crash Saturday on I-35, near mile marker 142.
According to the Lyon Co. Sheriff’s Office, one of its deputies spotted a silver 2007 Chrysler PT Cruiser on I-35, near mile marker 142. The deputy tried stopping the vehicle, but Cannon, 23, refused to stop. The Sheriff’s Office says when the suspects reached the exit for K-31 North near Melvern (exit 160), they tried getting off the highway. Cannon reportedly took the off-ramp at a high rate of speed and lost control of the car. It went off the road and rolled several times. source
Both Cannon and Krawczyk were pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities say they later learned the PT Cruiser was reported stolen in a robbery in Emporia.
