CALVERT, TX. (THECOUNT) — James Arrick Jr. has been identified as the off-duty Calvert Police Department officer killed in a car crash on the Fourth of July.
Arrick, 32, was traveling in a pickup truck on I-35 in southern Salado, TX., when he exited the roadway near exit 281 and crashed into an 18-wheeler resting on the shoulder.

The crash occurred on the northbound side near exit 281 around 3:10 a.m., officials said.
Arrick suffered blunt force trauma in the collision.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The big rig driver was uninjured in the crash.
Arrick had been a Texas police officer for 10 years and served the city of Calvert for 2 years. source
