CORNING, NY. (THECOUNT) — New York State Police Trooper Nicholas Clark was identified as the trooper killed early Monday morning in Steuben County. The suspect, a school principal, was also found dead.
Clark, 29, was fatally shot while responding to a call of a barricaded suicidal man inside his residence in the town of Erwin. The suspect was later identified as Steven Kiley, 43, according to New York State Police.

Police were called Riley’s home at 10041 Welch Road in the town Erwin at about 3:30 a.m. Riley’s estranged wife had called 911 to report that Riley was suicidal and may be armed, Fiore said. When police arrived, Riley was barricaded in the house and officers were unable to make contact with him, Fiore said. Fiore declined to give details, but said at some point, Clark was shot and killed. source
Kiley was the school principal in the Bradford Central School district.
Clark is survived by his mother, father and brother.
