SACRAMENTO, CA. (THECOUNT) — A local venture capitalist’s proposal to break up California, “CAL 3,” gained nearly double the necessary signatures to get it on the ballot in November, which will allow state voters to decide on the partition.
A proposal to split California into three states will be on the November statewide ballot, according to 10News.
Backers of the proposal, called CAL 3, said last month that they delivered 600,000 signatures to the office of the California Secretary of State.
The proposal only needed 365,000 to qualify for the November ballot. The proposal, which calls for the state to be divided into three separate states, is backed by Tim Draper.

Under CAL 3, the Golden State would be split into Northern California, California, and Southern California.
