DAVIE, FLA. (THECOUNT) – A woman reported missing while walking her dogs after being witnessed dragged into a Florida lake by an alligator Friday morning, has been identified as Shizuka Matsuki.
Matsuki, 47, was named in a Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission statement. The statement said officials believe the woman was killed and were searching for her body. The alligator was located and euthanized. The reptile was said to contain a limb belonging to Matsuki.
Davie Police are searching for an unknown woman after a witness said they watched a gator drag her into a Davie lake near Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino – Hollywood, FL. A dog was recovered unharmed at the scene.
Officers are searching in the area of Southwest 52nd Street west of Florida’s Turnpike. Davie Police said the witness told them the woman was walking her dog before she was grabbed by the alligator. source
Police who responded to the scene found a dog on a leash but could not find its owner. The dog has since been taken in by animal control.
