Dallas woman, Mary Harrison, admitted to police she shot and killed her husband because he was continually physically abusing the beloved family cat, according to police.
Mary Harrison, 47, was charged with murder in the slaying of her husband, Dexter Harrison, 49, Saturday morning.
Before the fatal shooting occurred, the feline in question had runaway from the home, possibly over the husband’s regular beatings. Mary posted signs in search of the missing animal. The cat eventually returned home on its own. When the husband again began to beat the cat, an argument ensued and Mary Shot him dead.
Dallas police responded to reports of a shooting. upon arrival, Mary admitted that she had shot her husband “during an argument, as he was beating the family cat,” police said. source
Dexter Harrison was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Police said Mary Harrison voluntarily remanded herself in custody at Dallas Police headquarters where she was interviewed by homicide detectives.
“During the course of the interview, she admitted to her role in the offense and confessed to shooting the victim,” police said.

Looks like her African American husband regularly beat the cat, and did so likely to control or punish her. I hope the cat is all right now.
