Larson Burgess, has been identified by troopers as the victim who passed away at the hospital after crashing his motorcycle on SC-295 in Spartanburg County Saturday evening.
Burgess, from Avon Park, FL., was operating a Harley Davidson motorcycle in Roebuck, SC., when the fatal crash occurred. He was 27.
Officials say, a motorcycle traveling south on SC-295 from Old Airport Rd., crashed after coming into contact with a merging 4-door Nissan at around 9:55 p.m. Burgess struck the driver’s side door of the Nissan and was thrown from the vehicle. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, troopers noted in a report.
It was not immediately clear if the driver of the Nissan sustained any injuries in the wreck.
He was wearing a seatbelt, the report said.
Per troopers, a driver in a Nissan 4-door was attempting to enter SC 295 from Old Airport Road when it pulled out in front of a Harley Davidson motorcycle heading south on SC 295. The motorcyclist then subsequently struck the Nissan on the driver’s side of the car, troopers said. The coroner identified the motorcyclist as Larson Montgomery Burgess, 27 of Spartanburg. Authorities opened a death investigation which they say is ongoing.
