NYPD identified Stephanie Nicolai and her 7-year-old son, Vincent, as the victims of a plunge off a second-floor balcony of the Gotham Hotel. The pair where were guests at the hotel, police said.
Nicolai, 46, was discovered deceased along with her young son about 8:15 a.m. Friday after police received a call about an unconscious woman and child near the 25-story boutique hotel on East 46th Street, according to police. It is believe the woman committed suicide.
We originally reported that an unidentified woman had jumped off a building in Midtown while clutching a young boy Friday morning.

The woman is said to be 46 years old. The boy is 7-year-old and police say they are “believed to be mother and son.” She jumped from the The Gotham Hotel just after 8:30 a.m. on East 46th Street. source
They landed on the second floor balcony with significant injuries and died.
