VA, NC “Kickback Jack’s” Restaurant Chain New Stringent Dress Code Irking Some Customers Others Not So Much

The dress code at Kickback Jack’s, a North Carolina and Virginia restaurant chain boasting 14 locations, is drawing some criticism (and some praise) after unveiling a new strict dress code that prohibits everything from white t-shirts to “negative attitudes.”

A sign posted inside its restaurant lists numerous new dress code and behavior requirements, starting off with an attitude check. The list bans offensive language, any attire of the low-hanging variety and absolutely no clothing displaying profanity. The new code of eatery ethics also institutes a ban on stilettos and balloons, the later presumably of the high-hanging variety.

“In a family atmosphere other than just a sports bar, I think profanity should be restricted in any public place,” said John Baucom, a customer.

“The first part sounded OK, but it just got, to me, more discriminatory,” said Laurie Washington, who was eating at the restaurant with her husband, Thomas Washington. source

The dress code goes on to say no excessively baggy attire, backpacks and large parties are also not allowed. You must arrive to Kickback Jack’s already dressed the part. There’s a policy that you may not modify your wardrobe upon entrance.

According to their website, there are 14 Kickback Jack’s restaurants in Virginia and North Carolina.

A manager said the new dress code is a chain-wide policy.
