Courtney Johnson has been identified by troopers as the motorcyclist who died after an early morning collision in Greenville County.
Johnson, 37, was traveling north on SC-14, Greer, SC., near Highway 80 at 2:30 a.m. when the fatal accident occurred.
According to troopers, Johnson was traveling on Highway 14 when he struck the rear of a stopped dump truck. The truck fled the scene, troopers said. source
Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene as a result of blunt force trauma, the coroner reported.
Officials said he was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
It is unclear if police made contact with the dump truck driver following the fatal crash. The crash remains under investigation by both the coroner’s office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
