The body of missing Springfield man, Shane Shomidie, was found in the Sangamon River Tuesday morning.
Shomidie, who turned 30 on April 25, was a professional mixed martial arts fighter who went missing while kayaking in Riverside Park April 21.

The martial artist and fitness instructor worked at Grand Central Training Facility had been missing since his kayak flipped near Riverside Park, said the Sangamon County coroner’s office.
The body was discovered about 9:50 a.m. by searchers working out of Riverside Park. source
Preliminary autopsy results indicated there was no evidence of trauma, a press release from the coroner’s office said.
Rescuers have been using sonar to search the Sangamon River and volunteers have been combing the banks of the river in an effort to find Shomidie.
Shomidie is survived by two daughters, ages 3 and 9.
