In a bitter-sweet update, Carla, the dog that went missing after his North Carolina owner, Ashley Jane Blandon, was killed on I-95 in Dorchester County, SC., Sunday morning, was found alive Wednesday.
Blandon, 20, of Forest City, NC., was killed after losing control of her Honda Accord while traveling on I-95. Carla was returned to the victim’s family Thursday.
Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office deputy Karen Nofsinger found the dog on an overpass Wednesday. Thursday, Dorchester County Coroner Melissa Clark reunited the dog with the family of Ashley Jane Blandon, 20, of Forest City, NC. Blandon was killed when the Honda Accord she was driving went off the right side of I-95, struck a tree and caught fire, according to Dorchester County Coroner Paul Brouthers. source
Blandon’s dog, Darla, was traveling with her and was briefly located by first responders at the scene, but Brouthers said the dog escaped before it was found on Wednesday.
