Largo police are calling the shooting death of Florida man, Ricardo Guzman, a homicide. Police located a man after the victim called 911 to say he had been shot near the Tech Data Corporation in Clearwater. He later died at an area hospital.
Largo police responded to a call at 11:45 p.m. about a shooting at the Melrose on the Bay apartments at 16321 Bolesta Road, Clearwater. Once there they found Guzman, 32, suffering from gunshot wounds.
Several gunshots were reported in the apartment complex. Shortly after the gunshots were reported, Ricardo Guzman, 32, called 911 to say he had been shot. Officers found Guzman alive in his dark blue Toyota Tacoma in the north end of the complex near building #5103. He was transported to Largo Medical Center, where he died from his wounds. source
Police say Guzman did not live in the Melrose on the Bay apartments. It is unknown why he was in the area.
Investigators say a person was seen running from the area of the gunshots, but it is not known if this person was a suspect or a bystander.
