Kentucky State Police say a body was found in Knox County has been identified as Michael Sowders of Barbourville, KY.
Sowders’ body was found in a dump site off Hinkle Branch Road, which runs off Paynes Creek Road in rural portions of Knox County.
Troopers on the scene said Sowders appears to have been killed. They did not elaborate.
Sowders, 32, was a volunteer firefighter in Artemus and an EMT at Whitley County EMS.
