[teenvouge] Lorde has apologized after sharing a photo with a caption that in hindsight, wasn’t the best choice of words. On Thursday night, the Melodrama artist took down an Instagram post and shared an apology after Twitter users reacted to her unfortunate photo-caption combination: a photo of a bathtub with the faucet on and reading materials at the ready, captioned with, “And iiii will always love you.”
Almost immediately after sharing the picture, fans and followers started calling Lorde, (real name, Ella Maria Lani Yelich OConnor,) out on Twitter because of the connection to Whitney Houston. The music icon, who sang 1992’s “I Will Always Love You,” died in 2012 after accidentally drowning in a bathtub.
“Lorde is probably sitting in the tub not realizing what she just did,” one fan tweeted.
