Seven children were bitten by a stray dog, believed to be a pit bull, while attending Lansdowne Elementary School in south Charlotte Monday, police said.
Seven victims were injured by a dog who wandered onto the school’s playground Monday, police said. The owner of the dog picked it up and left before police arrived at the scene.
Police said the dog went onto the school’s playground. While the kids were being taken inside the building, the dog managed to get inside the school. Police said the dog became overstimulated by several frightened children’s reactions and began to jump and bite them.
According to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police, Animal Care & Control officers responded to a reported stray dog at the school located at, 6400 Prett Ct, Charlotte, NC 28270.
A teacher was able to control the dog and contacted the owner based on information on the dog’s tag. source
Police said seven kids suffered minor injuries during the incident. Medic was not called to the scene.
Animal Care & Control is working to find the dog’s owner to confirm its rabies vaccination is up to date.
The dog was described as a silver and white male pit bull named “Bro.”
