The Cottonwood Police Department say they’ve arrested Alberto Lopez, wanted on theft charges, after they convinced him to drop by their station for a “job interview.” Lopez was instead promptly taken into custody.
Lopez, 32, had an open warrant out for his arrest over $5,000 that went missing from his former workplace, a Bank of America branch in Cottonwood.
Lopez moved to Phoenix after and had refused to answer calls or questions about the theft allegations. Police say Lopez was wanted for the theft when he submitted an application to the Cottonwood Police Department for a job as a dispatcher. Police contacted him and asked him to come to the station for an interview, but when he showed up on the morning of January 8, he was arrested. source
When Lopez arrived, he was arrested for felony theft and told he would not be in consideration for the job.
At least Lopez was trying to become gainfully employed! Maybe after he clears up a few ‘outstanding issues’ in his life, he can go back and try again.
