Secor Farms Darryl Secor Burned In NJ House Fire Started By Christmas Lights

Darryl Secor sustained minor injuries Saturday night in an electrical fire that destroyed the home of his family Mahwah farm, Secor Farms.

Secor discovered the fire, notified authorities and tried to put it out, sustaining minor burns to his hands and his face, for which he was treated at the scene, the chief said. The family dog also escaped unharmed, he added.

The blaze began “either in an extension cord or timer connected to outdoor Christmas lights” on the porch and ripped through Darryl and Jackie Secor’s home on Airmount Avenue — right next to their farm — just as night began to fall, Police James N. Batelli said. source

Although initial indications were that the house was a total loss, the Secors said they would still be open for business on Sunday.
