Hayfield, MN., School Superintendent Gregg Slaathaug, says longtime band director Dennis Conroy has passed away unexpectedly at his home Wednesday morning. He was 54.
Slaathaug said authorities contacted the district around 5 a.m. to notify them of Conroy’s passing. A cause of death was not released.
Conroy had worked in the Hayfield district for 23 years and directed the junior and senior high concert bands, the 5th-grade beginning band, 6th-grade intermediate band, senior high marching band, senior high pep band and the senior high jazz ensemble. source
Slaataug said, “Dennis was very committed to his band program and his students. Our thoughts and prayers go to Sally and Dennis’ family, he will be greatly missed.”
