Headless Body Found In Carpet Roll In New Orleans May Be Missing MS Man Philip Whitaker

The New Orleans Police Department is saying that a headless body was found on an on-ramp in New Orleans East may be that of missing Mississippi man, Philip Whitaker.

According to NOPD, a motorist called 911 Wednesday night to report that a piece of rolled up carpet on the side of Michoud had flies on it and was exuding a foul odor.

When officers arrived, they found a decomposed male.

The Hancock County Sheriff’s Department told WLOX News that they are working to determine if the body is Whitaker, a man reported missing from their county.

Whitaker, 54, was last seen in Harrison County on Nov. 8. The sheriff’s department asked for help finding Whitaker on Tuesday. source
