Police charged Boucher with one count of Fourth-Degree Assault and transported him to the Warren County Detention Center.

Paul’s State Communications Director, Kelsey Cooper, said, “Senator Paul was blindsided and the victim of an assault. The assailant was arrested and it is now a matter for the police.”

Officials did not release any possible motive for the attack, but launched an investigation to determine the cause.

Reports say Boucher is a registered Democrat.
