Family members have identified the victim in a fatal head-on wreck in Florence County, SC., Wednesday morning as, Sandra Kaye Dunlap, of Darlington. The 32-year-old mother was also confirmed killed by, Florence County Coroner Keith von Lutcken.

Dunlap, who family members say went by the first name, “Katie,” died instantly in a violent two-vehicle collision after driver, Randall Gillespie, crossed centerlines in his SUV and struck her vehicle head-on. According to family members, Dunlap leaves behind a daughter, 7-year-old Bella.

Gillespie, who survived the crash with minor injuries, was found to be under the influence of alcohol when the collision occurred, according to Lt. Cpl. Matt Southern with the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

The incident occurred at approximately 8:15 a.m. Wednesday at 5525 North Old River Road in Florence. An SUV driven by Gillespie was traveling southbound when he veered left of the centerline and struck a sedan traveling north head-on, according to SCHP. source

Gillespie was arrested and charged with felony driving under the influence, resulting in death, and driving under suspension, first offense. He is being held at the Florence County Detention Center.
