An Akron, Ohio, man seriously injured his 2-year-old daughter when he shot her in the head Saturday while unloading his gun, police said.
Dexter Brooks, 27, is charged with felony child endangering in the shooting at his house on Dunbar Drive near West Thornton Street, police said.
Brooks was trying to unload his gun about 3 p.m. Saturday when it fired. The shot went through a staircase and into a lower-level bathroom before it struck the girl, he told investigators. The girl remains in critical condition at Akron Children’s Hospital, police said Monday in a news release. source
Brooks remains in custody at the Summit County Jail, police said.
