Nashville Man Raferal Johnson Dies In Hospital Following Portland Plane Crash

Raferal Johnson, of Nashville, has been named as the second person killed after a small plane crashed in Portland Tuesday.

Johnson, who was 33, was aboard a Grumman American AA-1B piloted by 61-year-old Harold Ray Mckissack, when the crash occurred Tuesday at the Portland Municipal Airport.

Portland’s Police Chief said the aircraft was preparing to land when it experienced a problem, hit a tree, and crashed about 2,500 feet from the end of Runway 1. Two men were on board at the time, and both were ejected from the plane upon impact. Reports stated Mckissack was found dead at the scene. source

Johnson was located alive and taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center by LifeFight. Authorities said they were notified around 11:58 p.m. Tuesday that Johnson had also passed away.

The FAA and the National Transportation and Safety Board are investigating.

According to his Facebook page, Johnson was the owner-operator of R-MAC Trucking LLC.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends at this difficult time.
