Family members of Stetson University football player, Nick Blakely, who died Monday after collapsing during practice, are speaking about the loss on social media.
Born, Nicholas Adam Blakely, University officials said the sophomore linebacker died Monday evening after complaining of not feeling well during practice. The team was practicing for its season opener at Sacred Heart University on Saturday.
Blakely was on the sidelines shortly after practice began and said he wasn’t feeling well. Shortly afterward he collapsed and was taken to Florida Hospital DeLand where he died. source
Blakely was redshirted last season so he never played in a college football game. He was to play in his first game this coming Saturday.
A statement released on the university’s website said Blakely will be “forever a hatter.”
