An Ole Miss student is fighting for her life after she was shot in the head by her boyfriend, D’marius Madkins, at an Oxford apartment complex.
Officers found the unnamed victim sitting on a balcony with a gunshot wound to the head. At the time, she was conscious and talking, but she was airlifted to Regional One in critical condition.
“She was able to talk before she got transported, which is unusual for somebody who gets shot in the head,” Lt. Chris Case told FOX13. source
Oxford police said it was the victim’s boyfriend, 28-year-old D’Marius Madkins, who called police. However, they said he’s also the person who pulled the trigger.
“Supposedly, he went into another room, got a gun, and came back and shot her in the head with it,” Lt. Case said.
Madkins, was taken into custody and charged with aggravated assault, according to police. His bond is set at $100,000.
There has not been an update on the status of the victim. She is still considered to be in critical condition.
