Nicholas Miller of Irasburg, VT., has been named as the victim of a fatal ATV crash that sent another person to the hospital.

Vermont State Police responded to a crash in Lowell just before seven o’clock on Saturday, where they found Miller, 22, involved in the deadly off-road vehicle crash.

Police said Miller was traveling on Irish Hill Rd., when he veered off the road onto a grassy shoulder for about 50 ft. He then crashed into a tree and was ejected from the vehicle. Responding EMS workers pronounced Miller dead at the scene.

Investigators believe speed was a factor in the crash.

Miller was not wearing a seatbelt or helmet at the time of the crash, but the lone passenger was and was transported to North Country Hospital with minor injuries.

According to Miller’s Facebook page, he was employed at the Marine Corps Recruiting. He attended Lake Region Union High School. He currently was stationed in Twentynine Palms, California and is from Irasburg, Vermont.

Lake Region high school buddy, Nick Lantagne, sent his condolences on Miller’s passing on Facebook:

“Another one taken too young, I will never forget the first night I met you, out to Andersonville hunting coyotes riding around in the bed of pickups having fun and laughing the whole time. Watch over us and raise some hell up there, we will meet again someday, until then we can only remember the good times we all shared together. RIP Nick Miller”
