Man Who Died After Hit By Wave While Swimming At Myrtle Beach Identified

Raymundo Garcia, 35, from Gainesville, Georgia, has been identified as the man who died after a water rescue on Myrtle Beach Sunday, July 23rd.

The Horry County Coroner said Garcia was swimming near 24th Avenue North in Myrtle Beach.

In an email, Lt. Joey Crosby says Garcia was “in the ocean… with a young family member when a wave crashed over him.”

A lifeguard from John’s Beach Service and a family member rescued him.

The lifeguard, an off-duty emergency medical technician (EMT), and a police officer proceeded to perform CPR on Garcia, the email says.

Garcia was taken to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center where he died because of the incident.
